How to Make Chicken Fry – A Delicious and Easy Recipe

Chicken fry is a popular and delicious dish enjoyed all over the world. It's known for its crispy outside, juicy inside, and flavorful spices. Whether you're cooking for a family meal or a party snack, chicken fry is always a crowd-pleaser. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide on how to make tasty chicken fry at home.

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of chicken (preferably with bone, cut into medium-sized pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons of ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon of red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice or curd
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons rice flour or corn flour (for extra crispiness)
  • Curry leaves (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Oil for deep frying

Marination:

  1. Clean the Chicken:
Wash the chicken pieces thoroughly and drain the water completely.

  2. Prepare the Marinade:
In a bowl, mix ginger-garlic paste, chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, garam masala, lemon juice (or curd), salt, and rice flour/corn flour.

  3. Coat the Chicken:
Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and mix well until every piece is coated evenly.
Let it marinate for at least 1 hour. For better flavor, refrigerate for 4–5 hours or overnight.

Frying the Chicken:

  1. Heat Oil:
Pour oil into a deep frying pan or kadai and heat it on medium flame.

  2. Fry the Chicken:
Once the oil is hot, gently drop the marinated chicken pieces into the oil. Don’t overcrowd the pan—fry in batches if needed.

  3. Cook Until Golden Brown:
Fry the chicken pieces for 8–10 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
Add curry leaves in the last 2 minutes for added aroma and taste.

  4. Drain Excess Oil:
Remove the chicken and place it on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve the hot and crispy chicken fry with onion rings, lemon wedges, and mint chutney or ketchup. It can be enjoyed as a snack, side dish, or even as a main course with rice or roti.

Tips for Perfect Chicken Fry:

  • Using rice flour or corn flour helps make the chicken extra crispy.
  • For a spicy twist, add crushed black pepper or green chilies.
