How to Make Egg Fritters
Egg fritters are a delicious and easy-to-make snack that’s perfect for tea time or as a side dish. Crispy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside, these fritters are packed with protein and taste. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to make egg fritters at home.
Ingredients
- 4 boiled eggs
- 1 cup gram flour (besan)
- 2 tablespoons rice flour (for extra crispiness)
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 2 green chilies (finely chopped)
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- A handful of coriander leaves (finely chopped)
- Water (as needed to make batter)
- Oil (for deep frying)
Instructions
Step 1: Boil and Prepare the Eggs
- Boil the eggs for 8-10 minutes until hard-boiled.
- Let them cool, then peel the shells.
- Slice each egg into halves or thick round slices, depending on your preference.
Step 2: Prepare the Batter
- In a mixing bowl, add gram flour and rice flour.
- Add turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt.
- Mix in chopped onions, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, and coriander leaves.
- Gradually add water to form a thick, smooth batter. It should be thick enough to coat the eggs.
Step 3: Heat the Oil
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium flame.
- To test if the oil is hot enough, drop a small bit of batter into the oil—if it rises and bubbles, it's ready.
Step 4: Fry the Fritters
- Dip the egg pieces into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.
- Carefully drop them into the hot oil.
- Fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serving Suggestions
Serve the egg fritters hot with green chutney, tomato ketchup, or tamarind sauce. They pair well with a cup of hot tea or as a crunchy side to rice and curry.
Tips
- You can add grated cheese or boiled potatoes to the batter for a twist.
- For extra crunch, sprinkle chaat masala on top before serving.
- To make them healthier, try air-frying or shallow-frying instead of deep frying.
Enjoy your crispy and flavorful egg fritters!
